Beach conditions

My family is heading to Newport next week-end. Does anyone know the conditions of 1st beach? Is the red tide/red seaweed in? I also heard it has been closed on and off due to poor water conditions/high bacteria counts.

I know 2nd beach is nicer but we have a little one that likes the merry go round %26amp; play ground at 1st beach.

The red seaweed was visible last weekend, I haven%26#39;t been by this week, but I would assume that it is still there, if I happen to drive, by I%26#39;ll post a report. And, yes the beach was closed last weekend because of the heavy rain we had late last week. It is open now, but depending on any rain this weekend, might close again.

It is NOT red tide, as I assume you know by the way you posted, some people always call it that around town, but believe me, if you%26#39;ve never experienced red tide, there is a big difference from red tide, and red seaweed that makes the water LOOK red.
