Next weekend we are heading to Providence to celebrate my friends 40th birthday. We are staying at the Renaissance Hotel, so we would be looking for something close by. There will be four of us, and we are planning on having dinner at a restaurant on Federal Hill. My question is what to do after? Is there a piano bar downtown? Maybe a comedy club? Somewhere to listen to jazz? Any ideas? Thanks!

Tazza on Westminster Street usually has interesting music playing. It will have a youngish crowd, but mixed. For a 40+ crowd check out Hi Hat for music and drinks.

I second the High Hat assuming you are plus 40, great music and atmosphere, good food too!
We have four of us thinking of going to Providence for one night next weekend and do not at all know that city. How did your trip go? How was the hotel and the dinner restaurant? Any tips on what you found (liked or did not like) for the nightlife?

believe me , the welcome mat in providence is paved with parking tickets. its a shame. the city is cutting its own throat. they want tourism but chase most people away with parking tickets.
the welcome mat is out in cranston and warwick and other parts of the state, and they dont pass out parking tickets like bonbons in providence.
