Providence Piers

I%26#39;m coming from Boston to bring my 16-year-old and friend to their first rock concert without me being at the concert, at Providence Piers on a Sunday night. I%26#39;m not familiar with this area at all. I plan on parking, walking them to entrance, then doing something on my own, while they%26#39;re at the concert. Does anyone have any suggestions as to something that would be open for me on a Sunday night near Providence Piers? Any comparison between Providence Piers to a Boston neighborhood so I can gauge my comfort level with whether I want to walk around or whether I%26#39;ll be sitting in my car reading for a few hours? Thanks.

Providence Piers

Right now, there isn%26#39;t anything around Providence Piers that would be of any interest. It%26#39;s sort of a run down industrial area right now, Fuel tanks, trucking areas etc... But they have big plans for the future when the Route 195 relocation project is finished, and that area is opened up for development. Unfortunately they though of a catchy name first...that being said, for a concert they%26#39;ll be perfectly safe staying there. After you dropped them off, it%26#39;s just a short drive into the Downcity area where the Providence Place Mall is, you could head up to the East Side and wandeer around. Also Federal Hill is easy to get to if you wanted to grab a bite to eat, or sit out in Depasqual Plaza and have a coffe and dessert.

For a neighborhood comparison, I%26#39;d maybe compare it to the old Seaport Area where the Bank of America Pavilion is now....but without any of their current development.

Exactly what I needed to know! Thanks.
