I am looking for an inn, resort or house to host a wedding next summer. We love RI, and would be interested in any areas, but Block Island. The Newport area seems to be too overwhelmed with weddings, we are looking for a low key place with hotels for family and not a lot of hype. thanks

Have you checked out the Linden Place in downtown Bristol? Its a lovely mansion with great gardens around it. I know they host weddings there, and it is in a beautiful village location. You should find sufficient hotels in the general area. Another option, maybe is to check if Sakonnet Vineyards in Little Compton rents space for weddings. Again, a lovely location but guests would have to travel a bit for hotels as the area is rural.

Have you tried the beautiful Edgewood Manor Inn near Roger Williams Park and Zoo. We had a function there and it was under a tent on the grounds. It is a lovely mansion with great historic details and just the right touch of romance and beauty. Check them out www.providence-lodging.com
