I am looking for any info on discount cards for attractions in the Newport area.
So far I have heard about the 5-mansion ticket, and membership options in the Preservation Society.
and the Newport summer pass
(www.astorsbeechwood.com/newportsummerpass/)
But I was wondering if there is anything else that I was missing (eg like the Go Boston card)
Or places to look for deals and discounts
Deals on tickets/tours?
Not really in the summer season, there is a dining club that offers 2 for 1 dinners, but most places don%26#39;t honor it during June, July, August and sometimes into September.
You can find a coupon or two for restaurants, boat tours, etc, Just pick up the weekly papers (Newport Mercury and Newport This Week) But nothing really like the ';Go Boston Card';
Also read alot of the ads for restaurants and you%26#39;ll see some specials like:
-BYOB to Puerini%26#39;s on Mon, Tues, Wed.
-2 Dinners and bottle of wine fo $24.95 at Sardellas Mon, Tues, Wed....
etc..
Deals on tickets/tours?
Check out gonewport.com to see current events. The Gateway Visitors Center next to the Marriott is the best for tours/tickets. There is a festival of some nature virtually every summer weekend in Newport.
If you like baseball the Newport Gulls collegiate team plays at Cardines field through mid- August. Gaem time is 6:35. Adults tix are $4, children under 12 are $1. Enjoy a great burger at Mudville Pub and watch the game from a table overlooking the filed. A fun experience.
Of course the cliff walk is free. Metered spots are available along first beach but fill up fast. I suggest parking off one of the side streets near Salve Regina Univ. or the Breakers and intersecting the cliffwalk mid-way. You won%26#39;t be racing back to the beginning of the walk to beat the meter. Be careful to limit your H2o intake along the walk. Only a few port -o pottys along the way.
Are you traveling with children? Disc. tix are hard to come by in Newport in the high season but there are enjoyable free venues.
If you post your interests, activity level, food preferences, etc I%26#39;ll gladly offer more ideas. Enjoy Newport!
