What an awesome town!!! We had such a wonderful trip %26amp; I wanted to post a thank you for all the help on the forum. We stayed at the Francis Malbone House, it was wonderful and I am so happy we canceled our reservation at the Marriott. The Inn is centrally located, we parked our car %26amp; just walked for the next 3 days (with the exception of touring the Breakers). We didn%26#39;t have the best weather, but that didn%26#39;t stop us. We checked in, had a little bite to eat because the Inn provides afternoon tea (along with a wonderful breakfast)with delicious snacks. It was a bit chilly and overcast so we decided to take the last tour of the day at the Breakers. I thought the mansion was facinating %26amp; worth seeing. We walked around the grounds %26amp; headed back to get ready for dinner. We ate at the Mooring, I would highly recommend. Because of all the posts on this forum about the bag of donuts, we split them as an appetizer- they did not disappoint. I had the sole and my husband had the seafood pie, we also split a side of brussel sprouts--can%26#39;t believe I am raving about them, but they were excellent. A great cup of coffee, but no room for dessert. We sat on the deck %26amp; I thought the night was pleasant, but they had the enclosure down. We walked around for hours %26amp; also went to Astericks for a delicious espresso martini. The next day was overcast but we decided to go sailing on a schooner-Auidneck. I was nervous because I get motion sickness, but it was so smooth, I had no problem. We were only in the harbour %26amp; then the bay, not the ocean- the sights were beautiful %26amp; we loved all 90 minutes of the sail. WE had dinner at Bouchard that evening, I had a restuffed lobster, but my husband%26#39;s dish was the highlight- a cod special, it was wonderful. They recognized our 19th anniversary with a complimentary glass of champagne, I thought that was nice %26amp; there was a coupled seated next to us celebrating their 49th!! Could not stay away from Asterick%26#39;s again that night %26amp; those addictive espresso martinis, good thing we live 4 hours away! In between we shopped %26amp; toured as much as possible, thanks to milemarker %26amp; will007 for all your input- we had an awesome trip %26amp; we will be back again...maybe next time the weather will cooperate!!
Newport last weekend Trip Report
Great report. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the restaurants and meals you had. It is good to get updates on the restaurants as they can change over time. Good tip on the Aquidneck - something interesting to go on my next visit to Newport. Husband also has sea sickness problems so good to know.
