Looking for a hotel or b&b in Newport and more info?

My husband and I planning a romantic 4 day trip without my baby at the end of July.(midweek) We wanted to spend less than $300 a night. Looking to have air, cable, close walking distance to a nice beach to just veg out on. I really don%26#39;t know much about Newport. What are important things to do in Newport? must see? or must do? best places to eat as well?

Looking for a hotel or b%26amp;b in Newport and more info?

Check out www.gonewport.com for a list of different lodging options and things to do. (Mansions, Cliff Walk, Shopping, Restaurants, Sightseeing Boats, etc)

There aren%26#39;t many places that are walking distance to the beach, as the nicest beaches (2nd Beach and Gooseberry Beach) are out away from the residential and commercial areas. you can drive to the beaches (pay for parking) and there are also trolleys that can take you out to 2nd Beach.

There are some hotels near 1st Beach, but you wouldn%26#39;t be walking distance to downtown.

If you click on the ';Newport Forum';, you%26#39;ll see posts dealing with all sorts of Lodging, Restaurant, and Activity questions.
