Fishermen's Memorial Campground

Has anyone camped by tent at Fishermen%26#39;s Memorial Campground State Park? Are there campsites to request that are preferable or any to really avoid?

We were planning to park the car, set up camp and from then on travel only by bicycle. Any advice come to mind? We will have a 3 year old with us. He has a bicycle trailer to ride in.

I have not camped at the park but the area in general is great for bike riding, mostly flat.

The camp has a web site and from there you can view a map of camping sites. The camping areas are dividing by trailers, campers and tents with different services ( like electric) for each area.

Thanks 2wise4u. Which bike route would you recommend to get from the campground to Naragansett Pier? Are some routes more respectful to bikers?

I wish we had toured the campground last time (Labor Day) to pick a spot as some sites are more intersting and comfy than others.

Hi, I%26#39;m not sure of the campsite numbers, but we personally like to steer clear of the sites right next to the bathroom - can be noisy and the lights from the building can shine bright, and right into your tent at night while you%26#39;re trying to sleep....Those are about the only ones we make sure we avoid.

Ocean Rd. would be the most scenic route to get to the Pier area.Ocean Rd is a two lane road.

Rt. 108 will take you there as well and it is a four lane Road with a shoulder area. So you could do both, taking one rd. there and another back. A nice route to take from the campground is heading south on Rt. 108 and make a right onto Galilee Escape rd and head down near the fishing boats or over to Great Island.

You can also head down south on Rt. 108 to the light house.
