For ';fancy'; i%26#39;d probably say the Spiced Pear.

It%26#39;s more of a opulent setting than Bouchards which is more of a cozy French restaurant on Thames. Both have excellent food.

Agree with 2firenze; Bouchard%26#39;s is one of the best continental restaurants in the northeast, never mind Newport. Chef owned and operated with care and attention to detail.

The Spiced Pear is inconsistent, at best. The service is often so impersonal and amateurish it is distracting, and the prices are outlandish.

If you want a lot of ';show'; and are not too fussy about your food and service then try the Spiced Pear, but if you are a person who really enjoys a fine dining experience then don%26#39;t miss Bouchards.
