want to stay overnight in Newport on Sunday; anyone know of a decent cheaper hotel on the outskirts of town as in-season prices are real high.

I found some nice deals on hotwire.com you might like.
I plugged in 8/24 for a one night stay, for 2 adults.
These are the three hotel choices that popped up in the Newport-Middletown-Jamestown zone:
1. Most expensive. 3.5* hotel, $159, amenities include: Oceanfront, Pool, Business Center, Golf Nearby, Spa, Fitness center, Restaurant, Hi Speed Internet Access, Tennis Nearby.
Best guess for this hotel, based on a pinned hotwire list on betterbidding.com is that its The Hyatt Regency, located on Goat Island in Newport Harbor. It used to be rated 4*, but underwent renovation last year so quality was down. Renovation is done now though.
2. The next offering is one I am familiar with because I booked it recently for my sister. She stayed here and LOVED it. On hotwire it is shown as 2.5*, $99, and amenities include: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Laundry, Fitness, Business, Hi Speed Internet.
This is a best guess match for The Holiday Inn Express in Middletown, a short drive to Newport.
3. There is a mystery offering on hotwire for 2*, $104 a night, amenities: Airport Shuttle, Restaurant, Tennis, Pool, Laundry. No clue what it is.
If you aren%26#39;t familiar with hotwire: Once you book it your credit card is charged and it is non refundable. The above responses are best guesses based on what people report on betterbidding.com (Although again, I recently purchased the same deal on the HIE so I would be very certain that is it, also strong on the Hyatt as its amenities are quite unique.)
If you have any questions, let me know.
Just got back from Newport, was very pretty, and a lot of fun.

One other thing about hotwire:
Although I specified Newport, RI, hotwire gave me offerings in other nearby zones such as Provicence.... Properties in those zones are further away than Newport-Middletown-Jamestown. Just be careful when booking not to pick the wrong zone.
I always drive by this place and thought I%26#39;d check it out since it looks pleasant enough from the outside and the rates are inexpensive ($69). It%26#39;s at a busy interesection though. Located at Newport Middtown line.

Thanks for the quick responses! We%26#39;re still looking at our options...and running out of time :(
What is your budget....the $159 at Hyatt is a pretty good deal...
My boyfriend ended up going against what he said and booked a harbor view room at the Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina for $206 with his AAA discount. He originally wanted to spend less than $200, but that sounds pretty decent to me for the location! Thank you so much for all your suggestions :) Can%26#39;t wait to get there!
