question about hotels and weather??

We are renting a car on Sept. 22 for 5 days in New Haven. we are then thinking about driving through mystic, newport, ri, the cape cod area, newburyport, up to maine , then across New Hampshire to Vermont.

I have two questions.

Will I need hotel reservations since it is not prime fall foliage?

We are not sure where we want to stay.

Will it be too cold to rent a convertible?

Looking forward to getting away from hurricanes.....

Thank in advance.

Hard to say about the convertible since New England weather can be kind of unpredictable, but I would go for it if you really want one. You can still get some pretty warm days in late September, and you could always put the top up if it%26#39;s too chilly. There%26#39;s really no way to predict for sure though.

As far as a hotel, I guess it depends on your budget, as well as your taste, such as a hotel, or bed and breakfast. There are plenty of choices in Newport and I would advise you to check out the reviews on this site for both hotels, and b%26amp;b%26#39;s, and chose those that work for you. There is a pretty varied group available for you to look over. And when you do find something, I would advise making a reservation rather than having to scramble to find a place on your arrival. That%26#39;s what I would do anyway. I don%26#39;t believe the off season starts in Newport until after the Columbus Day weekend. However you end up doing it though, have a great time! It%26#39;s pretty easy to do in that town.

Driving that distance New Haven to Maine,NH, VT -- you%26#39;ll spend a lot of time in the car. Do you really want to do so much driving and spend so much time in the car?

Newport RI can be difficult to get rooms especially inexpensive ones. The other places may be easier to get rooms. Cape Cod though I wouldn%26#39;t chance it though to get a decent place to stay.
