I%26#39;ll be flying to Providence with my 17 yo son to see Brown University (prospective college). I%26#39;d appreciate any suggestions regarding hotels , restaurants. We%26#39;ll be staying only one Friday night and will not have a car. Thanks!
Accomodations convenient to Brown University
You can%26#39;t go wrong at Andrea%26#39;s (on Thayer St.) or the Meeting Street Cafe both right near Brown, although MSC specializes in sandwiches. Or you could head over to Federal Hill for more upscale Italian. There%26#39;s plenty of restaurants around Brown, though many obviously catering to the college scene.

Where you stay will depend on your budget and if you have a car. There are lots of B%26amp;B%26#39;s on the East Side near Brown and many hotels in downtown Providence. Check out this site for some good information:

What kind of food do you like? Thayer Street, the Brown neighborhood has student type restaurants and nicer sit down places with all kinds of food. I love the gelato at Cafe Roba Dolce. Federal Hill is fun but if you don%26#39;t have a car, a little far away. My dad loves Asian food and his favorite place to eat is a Thai/Cambodian/Chinese food place called Apsara. He also likes the Japanese food at Haruki.
