Hooray, my husband and I are planning our next trip to Newport and we cannot wait. We had such a great time in September that we decided to visit again for our anniversary next year (March/April). I called for prices and right now we are OK with paying whatever to go again, we%26#39;ll be saving on airfare so why not make the most of it.
Though we enjoyed our time at a B%26amp;B last time, this time we are thinking of staying at Castle Hill Inn in either one of the beach cottages or beach houses. Has anyone stayed in either recently or have you stayed at Castle Hill Inn and got a closer look at the place (we just stopped by quickly during our last visit).
What are the differences between the 2 rooms? Would you recommend one over the other? Actually any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
Castle Hill Inn (beach cottages vs. beach houses)
My husband and I have stayed in both (during the off-season). The Beach Houses vary in size, being renovations of older buildings, but are all lovely, some bigger than others.
The Beach Cottages are more uniform in size and interior design, somewhat bigger than most (but not all) of the Beach Houses. If you stay in these, ask for an end-unit so you get windows on three sides--preferably the easternmost or westernmost units.
March/April is a good time to visit Castle Hill and Newport for lower prices and uncrowded conditions if you are prepared to handle the unpredictable weather at that time of year. The Inn offers breakfast with your room and it is to die for, as well as a complimentary tea for guests that is out of this world. Their restaurant offers some of the best fine dining to be found in the entire country.
Castle Hill Inn (beach cottages vs. beach houses)
Yes, but March and April can be sooo cold, damp and windy. Why not come in May when the trees on Bellevue are in bloom- it is truly beautiful.
It is actually the opposite. The Beach Houses are larger and more uniform in size and the cottages are all different. Some of the cottages are quite small. I would recommend either Beach house 37 or 34. 37 is at the furthest end and as the other poster stated, enjoys windows on the side. The end units also enjoy more privacy. The larger beach cottages are very nice as well. I still prefer the Beach Houses but if you can not reserve an end unit a large cottage (23 I think) is very nice. Staying ay Castlehill, particularly in the Beach Houses is special. I would highly recommend it during down season. You will not have the crowds and it is very enjoyable. Don%26#39;t forget to have tea in the Main House. It is a wonderful treat for house guests. Have fun!
